Skills Overview

My level of understanding for each skill will be shown by individual progress bars and a short description of how I acquired the knowledge of that skill. Not only am I knowledgeable on the skills listed to the right, but through my experiences I have acquired qualifications that will excel my work capabilities.

Content Creation - 90%

Through my experiences I have had the responsibility of working with the marketing team to create content for different departments and company needs. I've had the opportunity to create blogs, press releases, promotional marketing content, case studies, white papers, website content, infographics, webinars, video scripts and print materials. As content manager, I was also tasked with the responsibility of copywriting and editing reports or content created by other coworkers.

Coding - 100%

Through Codecademy, an oline education company focused on teaching net native education, I studied HTML, CSS, Sass, Python, JavaScript and continue to study other languages. I first used Codecademy in my digital style and design class. We were responsible for completing three Codecademy lessons - HTML & CSS, Learn HTML & CSS: Part 1 and Make a Website. To feel more comfortable coding, I completed all three lessons twice. In terms of completing these lessons my skill level is 100%, but with my growing interest for web development. In addition to Codecademy, I have studied net native education through Lynda.com, an online business and technology education company owned by LinkedIn.

Adobe Products - 85%

I have gained experience working with multiple Adobe Products, but I am most experienced with Adobe Photoshop. I started using Photoshop freshman year of high school, but it wasn't until my junior year photography class that my knowledge with Photoshop excelled. Since this class, I have gained a growing interest with Photoshop. In my digital style and design class, I increased my Photoshop capabilities beyond editing photographs and learned to create infographics, logos and animated GIFs. Additionally, in style and design class, I gained skills in Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Lightroom and other Creative Cloud Applications.

Photography - 90%

Through taking landscape photographs to portrait photographs of my friends, family and pets, I have always had a strong interest in photography. It wasn't until my junior year of high school, that my interest for photography soared. In the class, we learned the history of photography, use of different cameras, film development and advanced photography skills. We applied our knowledge toward different class projects, one of which was presented in a local art walk. That year, I received my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D3100, with multiple lenses. This fueled my love for photography. I have used my photographs for header images throughout my website. My photographs can also be found in my portfolio as well as on my VSCO social media site.

Microsoft Office Suite - 90%

Over the years I have had the ability to strength my skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365. I am well versed in Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Exchange, SharePoint, Excel, Publisher, OneDrive and Skype. With school, work and volunteer assignments, I have been required to use Microsoft Office and Office 365 for a variety of projects. While I have used some Microsoft applications more than others I am confident in my understanding of each product.

Google Suite & Software - 90%

I do not have formal teaching in Google products or software, but through projects and self-teaching I have acquired skills with Google. I am knowledgeable with Google Search, Android, Google Analytics, Gmail, Chrome, Google+, YouTube, Google Earth, Google Fonts, Google Hangouts and Google Drive. Specifically on Google Drive I have learned how to use Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawing, Maps and Sites. Many of my group projects utilized the collaborative power of Google Drive.

Apple Products & iOS Applications - 80%

Similar to my knowledge with Google, my skills with Apple products and iOS Software were mostly self-taught. I understand the Apple Ecosystem including iCloud, Safari, iTunes, iMove, Photos, GarageBand, FaceTime, iMessages, Pages, Numbers and Keynote. As for Apple products, I am familiar with Macs, iPads, iPhones, iPods and AppleTV.

Hootsuite - 70%

Hootsuite allows individuals and businesses to manage social media content and platforms. Through my public relations internship with Moroch, I was taught to utilize Hootsuite with content scheduling. I also learned to use the automatic scheduling capabilities, real-time analytics to research market trends and collaborative sharing between other Moroch regions. During my internship, I used Hootsuite for Facebook and Twitter content and research.

Social Studio - 70%

Social Studio is another platform used to manage social media content and platforms. I was also introduced to this site through my internship with Moroch. I utilized this site for Instagram content scheduling and research. Similar Hootsuite, Social Studio allows for advanced scheduling and market collaborations.

WordPress- 90%

I was first introduced to WordPress in my multimedia writing for public relations class. We utilized WordPress for the media kit we created for our fictional client. This class introduced the basics of WordPress. In my style and design class, though, I expanded my skills in WordPress by creating my personal blog as well as writing feature stories for Extension Daily, a local publication. Through writing these stories for Extension Daily I have gained knowledge with YoastSEO and the Flesch-Kincaid Readability plugins. I anticipate WordPress will be a useful tool in my PR toolbag.

Canva- 90%

Canva is an online graphic design website that provides templates for multiple types of designs. With Canva, you can create designs ranging from social media graphics to infographics and business cards to flyers. With no formal training, I have used Canva to create social media graphics for my work with Project Sanctuary as well as to create one of my infographics which you can find in my portfolio.

Social Media & Social Networks- 90%

Social media is constantly growing, updating and becoming ingrained in our every day lives. With its constant growth, it is becoming more prevelant and important in the work industry. From personal, work and volunteer experiences, I have gained knowledge in multiple social media platforms and the different capabilities of each. I am proficient with LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, VSCO, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube and Snapchat. My skills also include experience with Vimeo, StumbleUpon, Vine, Periscope, Skype and Reddit.
